Limited Edition, Unlimited Vision Critique

After our sales event we had our final critique, where we received feedback on our project. We are graded on skills and context, in this case the relationship between value and meaning. Editions, reflective practice, which could link to ideas within constellation.

Applied Imagination in a Reflected Context.

My Notes

  • Rodans gates of hell.
  • could choreograph the frames.
  • animate the frame – screws taking over.
  • different things in frames – military, cheesy, beautiful.
  • my work has many metaphors.
  • photograph in likely and unlikely places – context.
  • Liked how I used ordinary objects to be decorative.

I was really happy with the feedback that I received. And I will show the ideas suggested to me in future posts, which hopefully make my project complete and more desirable. I feel this project worked well by creating limited edition outcomes which have meaning and value to me, my work has value to me, which in this project i have come to understand the importance of.

My Critique Feedback – Beyond Fiction

We had our critique today and i was very happy with the feedback that i received from both the tutors and the students. I told them about my ideas behind the mask, and showed my work to them. The response i received was positive, and people responded to mask how i wanted them to which was great to actually see. The points brought up were the same as things i was going to or was thinking about changing so that was very helpful to hear people were thinking the same things as me. The things that were commented on were to use typed text possibly smaller so the person would have to move closer into mask, making it feel more suffocating, also by having the words repeated enhancing the feeling of obsession. Another point was the possible change of base material, however it was also said that this could change the whole meaning of the mask which would make it not work. They said it was creepy having no where to see or breath from but this really made an impact to the mask and made it work well. They said i should look into Victorian style creepy photography as a reference, and also to think about where it would be displayed, they liked my idea about it being hung and having to enter the mask as if you are the ballerina. They suggested that i could possibly find a ballerina to wear the mask and dance, but with her site taken away and the dance would be imperfect going against everything that ballerinas work for. Another point that was made was that if i knew why i was drawn to the route of ballet and not just that but the dark, restricted side of ballet, which is something i hope to think more about soon and i hopefully will have an answer to this question. I will now continue with this project which will be assessed around may time by my tutors.
