Whats Important !

Is it the forms, the pattern or the texture that is important ?

For me it is the texture that is most important to my pieces. I want to create my own textures and develop a form out of them which I feel will work well and will be inventive and creative.

Medal digital

For my digital medal I have decided to use a drawing tablet to create an image which I could transfer onto a plaster and resin base. I decided to use photoshop to create the skull image. I digitally painted it, adjusted the levels and applied filters, and for the other side I merged together layers of different coloured lines and played around with the colours and applied a filter, to make a disordered image to represent the fractured mind. I decided to use a quote from the book which is ‘man is not truly one but truly two’ on the side of the medal.

Limited Edition, Unlimited Vision

We had another Lecture for our project, where we talked about things such as the name, product and artifact, what does it offer to others? What endorsements may there be?

We were asked to write a statement that you would use to present yourself to a potential client or investor. We were told to pretend we were in a lift and so we only had that amount of time to tell them about yourself and your project.

Here is my example statement.
Hi my name is Lauren Williams and I have made a selection of frames that are made up of ordinary objects such as screws and army men, that offers a sun and unique way to display your favorite memories.

We then had to say this to two people that we were not familiar with, and gain their opinions, and also respond to their paragraph in order for us to help each other.

After this exercise we were asked why people would want to buy your product. Some of the things discussed were as follows.

  • uniqueness
  • personal
  • bespoke
  • interactive
  • could boost creativity
  • you can collect them

We were also told in this session to prepare for our sales event at chapter arts center, to consider contact details, feedback forms, order slips, receipts,table covering, your anesthetics. Some of these things I had not considered until now.

My initial Idea for Limited Edition

My initial idea is to make hand panted, hand dyed and embroidered scarfs. I wanted to make a collection of scarfs, using natural hand made dyes. I have had several ideas for prints, such as natural designs like flowers,trees and space etc. I also thought  I could use what the dyes are made from to make a print from like beetroot or red cabbage. I also thought of painting landscapes such as beeches, mountains, lakes, fields, flowers or panting random patterns, and let chance decide the pattern.

There are many types of processes and techniques I could use, such as hand panting, natural dyes, synthetic dyes, dysperse dyes, heat press, batik, tie-dye, free machine embroidery, stitch, embellishment, gold work style, mono print or screen printing. For this project I would need a fabric such as silk, chiffon, satin or cotton. I feel this idea could work well and i will continue to update you.

Stop Animation

My current ideas that i am thinking about now is stop animation, this area interests me greatly and i am also playing with the idea of using ogmented reality. I feel the animals could really come alive and be an interactive art work.
